7. We like People who are genuine.
8. We like People who we associate with positive feelings.
9. We like People who are courteous.
10. We like People who we are familiar with.
11. We like People who don't take themselves to seriously.
12. We like beautiful People.
Books to Read:
How to Win Friends and Influence People ... dale Carnegie
How to Make People Like You ... Nicholas Boothman
First Impressions, What you don't know about how others see you
... Ann Demarais, Ph.D.
Influence, The Psychology of Persuasion ... Robert Cialdini
The Scarlett O'Hara story.
There is a Psychological Effect called the
Ben Franklin Effect. In essence it states
that when we do a person a favor, we tend to like
them more as a result of doing them a favor.
There is great article
concerning the Ben Franklin Effect at this link.
http://changingminds.org/explanations/theories/ben_franklin_effect.htm
Women we tend to associate with Scarlett O'Hara
used to drop their handkerchief in front of
the men they were interested in to get their
attention and give them the opportunity to do them a favor.
It worked wonderfully then and it still works today.
Men to the same thing but they don't use a handkerchief.
I'm not suggesting of course that we walk
around dropping handkerchiefs in front of the people we want
to attract, but if you want to generate liking,
consider asking the person you want to attract
to do you a favor.
The point I want to make with the Ben Franklin Effect
is that people are more likely to like you if
they do you a favor than if you do them a favor.
It is just the opposite of what we would expect.
