Bob Sommers on: 'How To Get People To Like You' & The 12 Laws of Likeability

Here's A Summary Of Some Of Our Key Points
From Thursday's Sunny Community Call
(recording available here:

Featuring Bob Sommers on:
'How To Get People To Like You'

The 12 Laws of Likeability
1. We like People who like us.
2. We like People who are like us.
3. We like People who educate us.
4. We like People who elevate us.
5. We like People who pay attention to us.
6. We like People who are approachable.
7. We like People who are genuine.
8. We like People who we associate with positive feelings.
9. We like People who are courteous.
10. We like People who we are familiar with.
11. We like People who don't take themselves to seriously.
12. We like beautiful People.

Books to Read:
How to Win Friends and Influence People ... dale Carnegie
How to Make People Like You ... Nicholas Boothman
First Impressions, What you don't know about how others see you
... Ann Demarais, Ph.D.
Influence, The Psychology of Persuasion ... Robert Cialdini

The Scarlett O'Hara story.

There is a Psychological Effect called the
Ben Franklin Effect. In essence it states
that when we do a person a favor, we tend to like
them more as a result of doing them a favor.

There is great article
concerning the Ben Franklin Effect at this link.

Women we tend to associate with Scarlett O'Hara
used to drop their handkerchief in front of
the men they were interested in to get their
attention and give them the opportunity to do them a favor.

It worked wonderfully then and it still works today.
Men to the same thing but they don't use a handkerchief.

I'm not suggesting of course that we walk
around dropping handkerchiefs in front of the people we want
to attract, but if you want to generate liking,
consider asking the person you want to attract
to do you a favor.

The point I want to make with the Ben Franklin Effect
is that people are more likely to like you if
they do you a favor than if you do them a favor.
It is just the opposite of what we would expect.

The Affirmation That Got Me To Go To The Gym At 4:30 This Morning

The Affirmation That Got Me To Go To The Gym At 4:30 This Morning ...

I'd like to share a thought with you ...
In case it may be of help to YOU somehow.

About 3 years ago, I began losing weight.
I lost 73 pounds in 19 months.

It was hard work.

Then I lost my 2nd of 4 sisters to cancer.
I lost my mother to that Disease a few years ago, too.

After losing Montessa, my BEAUTIFUL & Loving Sister
in July of 2004 ... I started gaining back my weight.

I've now gained ALL of those 73 pounds back,
plus a few more. :(

This morning at 4:30 am, the alarm went off.
Time to go to the gym.

So many reasons NOT to go.
Especially at that hour.

But I started saying an affirmation ...
or 3 of them, actually.

And I got into motion,
found myself at the gym,
and had an invigorating workout.

It all started with these 3 affirmations
that I want to share with YOU.

I wanted to share these with you, today
in case they may help YOU to
'get into motion'
regarding something you may have been 'putting off.'

Wishing You Well!
Sending You Love!
Hoping You KNOW How Much YOU HAVE!
So You Can Forget What You Don't Have.

You ARE A Total GIFT To ALL Who Know YOU!
Sunny Thoughts to YOU!

Today & ALWAYS!

I've Twisted The Arm Of My Good Friend Bob Sommers,
who also lives here on Maui,
and he's agreed to spend an hour with us next Thursday,
on our Sunny Community Call.

He's going to tell us:
'How To Get People To Like YOU!'
covering ...
His 10 Laws Of Likeability.

Bob owned and operated one of the largest
customer service training companies in America
before retiring to Maui.

His company worked with hundreds of thousands
of service people
helping them learn how to win over customers
by being competent at what they do
and by becoming exceedingly likable people.

In the process, Bob learned the value of being liked
as it applies to getting a job,
finding and building relationships,
being happy, healthy and connected

with the people we share the planet with.

In this call, Bob will discuss the 10 laws of likeability
and how implimenting them in your daily life
will dramatically change the way you look a the world
and how the world looks at you.

According to Bob,
being liked is a skill that most of us
were not taught as children.

Fortunately being a skill,
it is something we can learn and use
to enhance every aspect of our life.
